The Human Network
I have always been amazed at how social media networks demonstrate the truth that we are all connected and part of the same whole. The internet is a massive social network and the moment you connect to it, you are connected and become a part of a bigger whole. I believe that this is exacly our relationship to each other as human beings works. As soon as we are born we connect and sign on to the human internet. As a child you have to learn the rules of the human internet, some learn these rules quickly and have a a deep understanding of the back end systems. Others struggle, become afraid and pull back because they don’t understand that being connected is a beautiful gift. Others hack the connection to exploit those who have a weaker understanding. While others leverage their understanding to mentor those who don’t understand and lead them to fulfilling life and a better understand of things. KB is one of the latter types of people and the inspiration for this post.
I Tweet Therefore I am Connected To You
Twitter is one of the social media platforms that demonstrates the human connection very well. KB wrote a post on Twitip.com called Everything I Needed to Know I Learned from Twitter that really sums this up better than I ever could. The post shows us that KB did not understand or “get” Twitter until she realized that, “Twitter was a mirror for life.”
Once you understand this Twitter becomes just another communication tool, because that is all that it is. It is the telephone you use to call your neighbor and say good morning, the TV screen where you get news at an instant, the paper and pen where you write to your pen pal from across the world, and the door bell you ring to let your neighbor know you are coming over. Once you realize that being an honest individual willing to help others or being “A Good Neighbor” is the key to Twitter (and all social media in general), you now just have to learn how to push the right buttons to use it, like you did when you learned to use the telephone.
KB’s latest post on her blog is called Who Does Not Know You Love Them? and teaches a powerful message. You should read it and take action. If you can’t tell the person you love them face to face for some reason, I created an anonymous email tool on Spreadlove.org that could help.
