Get Paid To Tweet: Three Best Methods
If you spend a lot of time on Twitter you’re bound to run into a profile that says something like, “I get paid to Tweet, You can to, click here.” Like most of you I am always on scam alert, but because I am The Sherlock Holmes of the Internet, who has sworn an oath to put myself in harms way to report awesome Internet finds for you, so I clicked the link in the profile. It led me to a website called My Likes. Celebrities get paid all the time to Tweet and there are sites specifically for them. The sites below are for regular folk who want to make some money off of their Twitter accounts. That’s right you can get paid just for Tweeting.
Top Three Pay Per Tweet Companies
1. My Likes
My Likes was created by a crew of ex Googlers who stumbled upon this great idea. The dashboard is simple to use and it is highly affective both for driving traffic if you are an advertisers and for getting paid if you have an engaged Twitter following. It also lets you make money for posting things to Facebook as well.
Sponsored Tweets is created by a company called IZEA. They build awesome ad platforms. Sponsored Tweets gives you the ability to go pro and they use Adomerty to make sure you are not getting fraudulent clicks from bots. Their dashboard is great and allows you to pick who you want to Tweet your message. You can even set how much you want to make per tweet and take paid opportunities that are being offered.
Tweet Mob is also great. I don’t think they are as good as the others but you should try it and decide for yourself.
Sponsored Ads = Spam
Before I show you my findings I want to dispel a myth. Sponsored Ads are not spam. Every morning I search the Internet to find social media news and interesting things that my Twitter followers might like. This is free promotion for the websites that I find good articles on and it builds my reputation for finding useful resources for my followers. The ads that I sponsor are no different except that I’m getting paid per click for Tweeting them. So I find an ad that I think is beneficial to my followers, I promote it by Tweeting and get paid for everyone who clicks the link. The ads are also marked so people know that they are ads.
Case Study: Tatiana Is Getting Paid To Tweet
Tatiana is a 20 year old girl who lives in LA and she is getting paid to Tweet. She is very influential on Twitter and has a Klout score of 77. Klout measures how influential you are online and who you influence. She has 79,299 Twitter followers and she drove a good amount of traffic to my site via My Likes.
She has a higher Klout score than Shaq and I would have never found her if it were not for My Likes. At PHILO we partnered with Shaq for many events and when he Tweets about our chat parties he sends an immense about of traffic to the site.
I am not saying Tatiana is more influential than Shaq. I am saying that for not being a celebrity, people trust her and she drives traffic as a result.
For this one Tweet Tatiana earned $3.60
Tatiana is not the only one getting paid. A Twitter Drunk Off Quotes account just made $19.20 for one Tweet because 48 people clicked the link. They follow 0 people and have 11,695 followers.
Benefits As An Advertiser
As an advertiser I have paid influential Tweeters up to $22 per Tweet. I know it sounds crazy but if they provide the click through then why the hell not. This of course is before I knew about the companies above. Now I pay less for (40 cents a click or even as low as 10 cents) for influencers who can drive an immense amount of traffic. I also only pay for the clicks, so I pay for the results. Also when someone Tweets your info it stays on Twitter, gets retweeted by others, and spreads through their social graph . This is very important for search because social search is here.
Case Study: My Like Traffic Results
As an advertiser the results are great. I had a traffic spike of 871 between the three ads I was running and spent $60.70 I also retained a good amount of traffic the next day.
The personal trainer post got 487 page views.
The Bitly link for the personal training post received 560 clicks and because the Twitter post is still live on many Twitter time lines I still get residual clicks.
Now I can go back and pick which Twitter users I want to allow to keep posting my ads.
The Take Away
Pay per Tweets is great for both advertisers and for influential people on Twitter. You pay only for clicks from the account that tweets your message, but get the retweets free, you get to occupy their social graph forever and your brand gets great word of mouth representation.
